What we do
ChangeMakers Refugee Forum makes a positive contribution to resettlement and helps to build sustainable refugee-background communities in the Wellington region by:

listening and responding to issues identified by refugee-background communities

supporting the interconnectivity of refugee communities

ulitising the knowledge and experiences of refugee-background communities and those who work with them, to provide informed and effective research and advocacy

facilitating training, mentoring, and leadership development
-
building connections between refugee-background communities and service providers signed up to the Wellington Regional Action Plan For Refugee Health and Wellbeing.
Key outcomes for 2011-12
- Communities have increased awareness and understanding of their rights.
- Government and non-government organisations have increased understanding of a rights based approach.
- Communities are supported to participate more fully in New Zealand life.
- The contribution of people from refugee backgrounds to New Zealand is documented and promoted.
- Board and staff are supported to increase the effectiveness and transparency of our work.
- ChangeMakers’ relationship with its communities is underpinned by a rights based approach .
